I’d like to warmly welcome you to Notes Left Behind. If you’re new here, so am I [kinda]…
I’ve sat on the idea of getting started in this space for a long time. Always hesitant for one reason or another. As a creative professional, approaching a blank canvas (or page in this case) never gets less scary. Despite that pressure to have it ‘all figured out’, here I am.
I'm Jalisa (juh-lee-suh), and Notes Left Behind chronicles my creative practice, musings and insights as a designer. Everything from the highs and lows to behind the scenes, commentary on the current digital landscape and how design shows up in everyday life.
Coming from a small island in the Caribbean Sea, choosing a non-traditional career path, I’ve only just started to take note of the uniqueness of it all. I’ve had some breakthrough moments and an equal share of moments of doubt. My hope is that by sharing the journey, you’ll find something useful for your own path.
What to expect:
I’ll be kicking things off slowly:
Bi-weekly updates - i.e. a new entry, posted every two weeks, on Sundays.
Favs of the week - highlights / links / resources / recommendations.
I want this newsletter to be an honest reflection of what it’s like to grow in a creative field, coming from a small island, coming from a girl like me1. Ultimately, I hope to build a community here. If you’re curious about design, or just love learning how creativity can shape our lives, I hope this is something you could look forward to in your inbox.
Until Sunday,
J
So excited!
